Sephora Chic Prints by Opi Review!!

I can't afford Minx so I get the next best thing.  Opi's Chic Prints are sold at Sephora for only $15. 16 come in a pack so it can fit on a variety of nail lengths and sizes.  I thought it was easy to use and apply but it didnt go on as perfect as the big advertisement in the Sephora.

I have very curvy nails.  They aren't flat but shaped by a bowl..  I did have some air pockets on the side but people didn't even notice.  The package says they last for 2 days but they can definitely last a few more.  After 2 days I applied clear polish on one side of my hand to see if it would stay longer but it was the same and eventually begin to peal off at the tips of my nail.

My boy friend had the pleasure of peeling each one off on Sunday..lol. Gotta love that man.  I applied it to each nail on Thursday evening in a rush for my 1 year anniversary and my extra special preparation along with some other factors made us late for our Brazilian Restaurant rendezvous.  Oh well, we still had an awesome time.

Since I had a few Chic Prints left in my pack I decided to paint my nails in Essie Van D'Go nail polish and only used my Anchor Chic Print on one nail on each hand to see how it would look and I like the results.  People noticed it like crazy when it was all my nails and I got good feedback from strangers but I'm stretching this pack for all its worth. 

Yes, for Opi Chic Prints @ Sephora.  At $15 a pop its an affordable way to dress up your nails for a special occasion or if you want to stand out in the crowd.  I got a lot of stares.  Hopefully they were good ones..lol.  Glitz Lipz Out!!

Royal Pains: Free Lacoste Shirt Exchange Rundown

At the beginning on June USA Network joined forces with Lacoste and Vanity Fair for a shirt exchange to benefit charity. The Lacoste & Royal Pains Shirt Exchange was a huge hit, bringing crowds of people with shirts in hand from all over.The event was held on June 3 from 8am-6pm at Greeley Square (Midtown) on West 33 and 6th Ave.

I went early in the morning before work and even though I was running a bit late I couldn't leave til I had that gift card in my hands.  I was on the line for about 40 minutes and conversed with a kind gentlemen in front of me.  I inched closer and closer.  The sun was hot that day and beamed down on me as a steadly made my way under some shade.

Models in Lacoste gear handed out frisbee's to people waiting on line. For the shirt exchange I brought a cute white button down that I always had in my closet but never wore so I figured why not give it to someone who can use it.  I filled out a card with my name since I made a shirt donation then I stepped up to a young woman who handed me my $50 Lacoste gift card.  My friend said they also gave out 1-ride metro cards but the person I went to never gave me that :(. Oh well.  I can't wait to use it even though the clothes are super duper expensive.

After I walked into Greeley Square I realized the small park had been transformed into an arena of fun.  There was a booth with lemonade, mini waters and double chocolate cookies.  Small pillars with huge bowls were filled with ice and more miniature waters.  Vanity Fairs latest June 2010 issue was scattered throughout the Square.  The cover was adorned with a vintage picture of Elizabeth Taylor.  Elegant, beautiful, radiant, a classic beauty.  On my way to work I flipped through the magazine pages, while sipping on ice cold lemonade, and nibbled on my chocolate cookie.  All for free!  All for a good cause!  A good deed with a great outcome.

**Sephora Splurge*** Chic Prints in Anchor & Fun Free Spree

After the Skinny Cow event on Saturday and brief moments at the High Bar Roof Top BBQ soiree,  full of pretty people with fat wallets, my friends and I decided we wanted to go on a free spree.

We went to a few Sephora's trying to score the mini mascara from the Dior Show promotion from last week.  While window shopping my eyes caught on these nail prints.  Not as expensive as Minx but a close knock-off, Sephora's 'Chic Prints' are a nice alternative for those who don't have $100 to spend on a trip at a salon.  Minx'd nails are crazy expensive at $10 a nail. Geez, way to much to spend on nails that have the tendency to chip, break, or crack.

This is a nice alternative if your on the cheap but want to look the part.  For only $15 you can get 16 precut nail strips.  They come in 8 different designs.  We'll probably see more in the future. Its by the Opi brand but they say "brewed by Minx" in the back of the packaging.  I guess a friendly ode to the original makers that made these fancy nail designs famous.

Some other free things I scored.  I keep telling everyone you have to sign up for Aveda. They have lots of free product samples and tons of locations.  Last time I went I had a wonderful conversation with a worker, refreshing tea to sip on, and a hand massage with their Caribbean therapy lotion.  It was so relaxing and I didn't have to open my wallet to get that moment of bliss.

I love getting mail.  I don't like getting bills but the fun stuff seem to be out-weighing all the junk mail.  I've been getting free samples in the mail like crazy and I want to share them with all of you.

Secrets Clinical Strength Deodorant in Light & Fresh scent

A few weeks back there was a promotion by Eco-tools to send/recycle your old make-up brushes, empty lotion bottles, and make-up tubes.  I sent 2 empty product bottles in.  It cost me a little over $1 to send it first class in a padded envelope and I received 2 coupons to get 2 free products valued up to 7.99 Each.  I did something good for the environment and in return I get to use these coupons on some eco-friendly alternatives valued up to about $16 Bucks.  I can't wait to go to my local pharmacy or target to pick out some new make up goodies to try out.  :)

Shirley J Universal sauce. This can be used in pasta sauces and to flavor up cheese sauces, gravy, etc.  I have yet to try it out but I'm thinking of doing an Alfredo pasta night.  Can't wait to try out this tasty sauce enhancer. 

New Bzz CoverGirl - Smoky Shadow & Shine Blast Campaign

A few years back I discovered bzzagent.com.  This website runs on word-of-mouth.  It's awesome.  You sign up for the site, take an extensive general survey on things you like to do, your living situation and thats how they determine your "bzz campaigns".  My mom and my friend joined.  My mom gets completely different bzz's then I do because she's older, owns a home, etc.  So yeah, everyone gets different campaigns and different products.  I've gotten lip-gloss's to cereal, full size name brand perfumes, hair products, and more.  This site is amazing and you don't pay a damn thing.  All they ask in return is that you submit Bzz Reports.  So you talk it up to all of your friends and family about your "bzz" and you write a brief report.  They also include coupons and samples to share with friends, family members, co-workers, whoever you want to so you can get feedback.

Besides getting cool new products and services to try for free you also get points for surveys and bzz reports.  You can redeem these points with an affiliate website Mypoints.com.  You create a username and password so you can monitor and redeem these points for giftcards.  I've gotten target, red lobster, restaurants.com, and so much more in gift cards ranging from $10 - $25.  They do offer gift cards up to $100 but I get so impatient that I redeem them when they hit the $25 mark.  :) What can I say?  With Mypoints its cool because when you do your general online shopping, if you click-thru using their website you get points for your purchases.  So everyday online transactions can become points you can redeem for gift cards.  Cha-Ching. You don't even go out of your way and you get points.  I've gotten points for my laptop purchase, airfare, shopping at Sephora online, and other websites.

Allure Prize

At the beginning of each month Allure offers fun contests for free goodies.  When you go to their site and click on the "free stuff" link they show an array of beauty products that you can score for free.  The first 500 to register at the beginning of the month at 12 noon have a chance at winning.

Usually I'm not home at noon or have access to the internet at work so I can't enter.  Most of the time if I am home I usually forget and miss the deadline. *Tear drop* lol.  But that's okay.  So my mom won a prize.  It was so funny because it came in the mail and she didn't even realize.  It had  "congratulations winner" on a piece of paper and she didn't even read it.  Winning must be nothing new to her.

The cool thing about it is that what she got in the mail isn't even the prize.  Due to an "overwhelming worldwide demand" of the new Avene Body Oil they included a gift out of gratitude for the delay of her prize.

So many events so little time..ahhh

I've been so busy that I've been neglecting my blog.  Mucho sorry.  I admit that I have been slacking but not in all areas of my life. I have tons of awesome pictures, great news, and events to share with you all but I have been running around.  Working, partying, and drinking. :) Sounds like tough work right.  Well, it is.  I have some food reviews, a bunch of samples and products to share.

The Modern Look

Today is my One Year Anniversary with my Boyfriend.  I'm so happy.  They say the first 6 months are the best but it still feels like the first day and I hope this feeling never goes away.  Love is awesome.  I have a pic of me and my beau in an earlier post.


I recently went to The Sassy City chicks sample sale event.  Bloomingdales had a Cozy Wallet events that was fun and we sneaked into another event by clothing line Edun.  Free food, good music, great dancing, and free drinks.  Seriously,  I love New York city.  So much to do on the cheap, you just have to search and you shall find.

Cirque Du Soleil: Banana Shpeel

You know me and my buddies are all about the FREE.  So you know we didn't pay for these tickets right.  Yes sir, we saw an awesome show for free.  Months and months ago on a cold winter day, a day where the snow was so bad they closed down banks, schools, and malls, my friends and I went to the Beacon theater to score a free PAIR of tickets to Cirque Du Soleil Banana Shpeel.  They not only gave free tickets out but there was also a sneak peak of the actors rehearsing for the show.  The beacon theater was a mad house.  They had free sandwiches, banana cake pudding from Magnolia, sodas, juices, water and more.  I stuffed my face with everything I could grab, found a seat, and enjoyed the pre-show.  I had so much fun with my friends. 

After weeks and weeks of waiting the day had finally come to see the show.  On Thursday April 29th, at 8:00pm the show began.  The show opened up with a stuttering buffoon which greeted the audience with the help of his fellow clown.  Funny stuff.  As the show went on we saw performance and acts that makes Cirque Du Soleil the well known show that it is.  It wasn't like its usually show but was more vaudeville acts of comedy.  With 3 memorable characters that popped in and out of scenes.  From the old man with the walker, to the balding, stringy haired streaker, to the suave Latin man with his unforgettable walk and mime performance that kept us rolling at the edge of our seat, everyone got a little and a lot out of the show.

Sequined costumes, bright colors, and vibrant wigs adorned the stage.  Tap dancing, ballet, swing dancing and more were just a few highlights of the evenings show. Kids were also in the audience but some of the jokes we for the 18+.  But it probably went right over their tiny heads even though the adult laughter filled the theater.  Claps, applause's, whistling, hooting, and hollering all were reactions we indulged in.

Its something you should definitely see with friends, family, or your significant other.  Escape from reality and enter a world of laughter with Cirque Du Soleil Banana Shpeel.  Let me know if you went and tell me what you think.
